Ekaterina (Eka) Jeleva, RN, FNP, E-RYT-500 and Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, has been passionately drawn to yoga since 2003 when she embarked on her yoga journey by traveling to India. She studied with many renowned teachers including Yogacharya Srivatsa Ramaswami (a disciple of legendary yogi Sri T. Krishnamacharya) and Swami Bodhananda Saraswati. Eka also pursued Ayurveda under the guidance of Dr. Vasant Lad and Vaidya Jayarajan Kodikannath. Eka teaches a variety of yoga styles including Vinyasa Krama and Ashtanga Vinyasa. She has a Masters degree in Nursing and works for Stanford Healthcare as a Nurse Practitioner. Eka is also a certified Pilates teacher and a certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor. She is deeply passionate about applying yoga in integrative medicine.
Shriram Sarvotham, Ph.D., E-RYT-500, is a distinguished yoga educator and scholar with over three decades of teaching experience. A lifelong practitioner, Shriram was initiated into yoga at age eleven by Yogacharya R. Subramanian of Chennai, India, and trained under his guidance for 14 years. He continued his yoga education with Yogacharya Srivatsa Ramaswami and Swami Bodhananda Saraswati. Shriram has been teaching yoga since 1991 and has conducted over 300 workshops and retreats across the United States.
Shriram's teachings integrate wisdom from classical yoga texts, including the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Yajnavalkya, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika, providing students with a deeper understanding of both philosophical and practical dimensions of yoga. He has presented lectures and workshops at renowned conferences, such as the Yoga Alliance Leadership Conference, Texas Yoga Conference, and Texas Medical Conference.
Shriram is a founding member of EkaShri Schools of Yoga, where he has successfully guided and mentored nearly 150 dedicated yoga practitioners in their journey to becoming certified yoga instructors through the institution's comprehensive teacher training programs. He is also a faculty member with various institutions including Yoga Bharati, Hindu University of America and the Art of Living Foundation. His contributions to the field have earned him several honors, including the Exemplary Service Award in Yoga from the Consulate General of India and the Yoga Service Award from ISKCON.
Shriram holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University, Houston TX. He presently works as an engineering leader in the tech industry in Bay Area, California. His unique ability to bridge ancient yoga traditions with modern scientific perspectives makes him a valued mentor and teacher in the community.
Vidhya Gopalakrishnan, Ph.D., RYT500, has been a passionate student of yoga and practitioner for over 15 years, holds a Master of Science degree in Yoga Therapy from the Maryland University of Integrative Health and is a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT). Vidhya is a faculty of EkaShri Schools of Yoga and supports the EkaShri team in the capacity of Treasurer/CFO.
In addition, she is an executive in the pharmaceutical industry, with over 25 years of R&D, program management, and leadership experience spanning various companies and roles.
She is passionate about a holistic approach to health and wellness and is hoping to integrate her scientific training, pharmaceutical development experience, exposure to multiple therapeutic areas, and passion for yoga therapy to offer non-pharmacological approaches for health and wellbeing. She has studied and practiced Iyengar yoga, restorative and therapeutic yoga, Mysore Ashtanga yoga and more recently clinical yoga therapy.
Prior to her MS in Yoga Therapy, Dr. Gopalakrishnan received her Ph.D. in RNA synthesis and structural studies from National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India, and her master’s degree in chemistry from IIT, Madras. She has held post-doctoral positions at Penn State University and Stanford University School of Medicine.
